Serena Williams Will Debut Virgil Abloh x Nike at the U.S. Open

The collab we all didn't know we needed has finally arrived -- on August 13th, 2018 Virgil Abloh debuted "The Queen Collection," a capsule for the one and only Serena Williams.

On the official Off-White Instagram page, it states the capsule is "a study in the intersection of sport and lifestyle but ultimately performance."

Abloh has collaborated with Nike before but never alongside an athlete. It doesn't come as a surprise that Williams, who is known for her style on the court, has created The Queen collection with Abloh. In his email to Vogue, he states:

When I was thinking about outfits for Serena, I was thinking about her playing the game and her aesthetic while she is. Also about the confidence that’s needed while playing at the top level of tennis. This is very far from a design-by-numbers project. As you can tell by her personality in her play, she’s very much involved in her aesthetic. She has a level of creativity with how she expresses herself in terms of clothing in any event, so I made everything with her logic in mind. We traded images and there was a lot of back-and-forth to get this done in short order.

The Queen Collection consists of black and white leotards with tulle skirts inspired by Williams' love for dance. Abloh created each piece to complement and showcase Williams' body and performance on the court. The outfits are styled with a black bomber jacket paired with Abloh's version of Williams' NikeCourt Flare 2 sneakers.

A limited edition of The Queen Collection including two Nike The Ten sneakers will be available at Nike Labs and Nike Soho after August 27th when the 50th U.S. Open begins.
