After IYVES debuted her first EP Chromatic last June, fans anxiously anticipated the songstress’ next project. They were not disappointed by this electronic, soul-pop ballad.

Lyrically, the song takes us through IYVES’ initial romantic feelings for someone. She’s enticed and she wants it known with lines like, “I’m plagued by your mystery.” The sensual, suspenseful nature of the blooming relationship is reflected in her clever word play and vocal inflections as she powers through the chorus, claiming she’s “caught up in the silver” and being given “gold.”

The single perfectly fuses IYVES’ powerhouse vocal ability with a crisp electronic sound. Both mesh together in the chorus for what can only be described as a gospel-like joyful noise.

On April 22nd, IYVES hosted a release party to celebrate “Gold” and her return to performing after an almost year long hiatus. Friends, family, and fans of the artist all gathered at the Broken Shaker in Brooklyn as IYVES serenaded the crowd throughout the gloomy night. “It’s been so long!” she told the audience as attendees shuffled as close to the front of the stage as they could. With a flower in her hair and gold accessories to complement the occasion, she seemed to be imparting highly coveted wisdom on local civilians one note at a time.

IYVES has worked to successfully establish herself as a strong, young voice in alternative R&B and this new single further cements that. Stay tuned for a golden music video dropping April 25th.
