Governors Ball Sunday Artists React to Schedule Update

BY BLENDED STAFF

This morning, attendees and artists scrambled for news about Governors ball festival and its next moves ahead of thunderstorm warnings after The festival released a statement urging people not to come to the festival’s site on randall’s island until further notice. Finally, at 11:30, GOVERNORS BALL ANNOUNCED THAT GATES WOULD NOT OPEN UNTIL 6PM WHICH INEVITABLY LED TO performance SCHEDULE CHANGES.

As a result of the performance schedule changes, some artists set to play earlier in the day were completely cut from the schedule as Gov Ball worked to fit the nighttime acts into a four hour time slot. Many artists took to social media in disappointment over cancelled sets or to simply update fans amongst the craziness.

(1) MKULTRA SHARES WEATHER WARNINGS

MKULTRA, a Berklee College of Music student, was scheduled to perform at The Governors Ball this year through Berklee’s Popular Music Institute (BPMI). Governors Ball is the first of six festivals BPMI artists are appearing at this summer.

(2) RIC WILSON FROWNS AT FORECASTED WEATHER

Ric Wilson was set to play his first Gov Ball and first New York show ever but his set was amongst those that were cancelled. Guess he has to come back to bless NYC soon!

German band Parcels were also amongst the artists who sets got cancelled. Their set at Gov Ball was going to be their only stop in America for their summer tour. It seems they don’t want to let their U.S. fans down and are planning a show in spite of the bad news.

(5) Soccer Mommy apologizes to fans for cancelled set

Soccer Mommy played a killer after show with NYC’s Pom Pom Squad on Gov Ball Day 2 but won’t be able to have her own solo performance this year.

(6) NYCK CAUTION HINTS AT CONTINUED COLLAB PERFORMANCE

(7) Chelsea Cutler, SHAED, Noname, and more inform fans about new set times

Chelsea Cutler, SHAED, and Noname were lucky and still have the chance to perform tonight. They posted their updated set times on their respective Instagram stories.
